Muscle Car Print
I have at last found a muscle car print shirt!!
Ever since I saw Prada’s muscle car print collection I was hooked for it. It was so fresh and had a comic element, that I wanted it immediately! I first saw the print on the front of ELLE’s february 2012 issue which featured Dakota Fanning wearing the car print shirt.
When I received my March issue of VOGUE I nearly leapt for joy when I saw the PRADA advert spread (lasting 4 pages) with the same muscle car print crop-top. Seeing that advert made my mind up that I had to have the muscle car print top! For a few days I browsed the web for an alternative muscle car print shirt (as I do not have the funds to splash out on the real deal) but my search didn’t turn up anything similar and for a reasonable price. I thought I would never own this gorgeous print … until yesterday!
I was again flicking though another fashion magazine (this time company) and I saw a knee length skirt sporting the muscle car print!! The best part was that it was from a high street store Primark! Today I was straight there to my local store to find this alluring print. I looked and looked but could not find the skirt, I thought that this was it again, and I actually felt my heart sink a little. I turned around and there was not the skirt but a muscle car print shirt! I quickly moved to the check out.
I know that it is no way PRADA but it is a good copy and for the price of £8.00 I couldn’t go wrong!

This is my interpretation of a Channel advert I did several weeks ago, it reminded me of the reworked images of Terry O’Neill photographs.

Reworked
Today I saw an interview on TV with photographer Terry O’Neill about his new exhibition at Rook & Raven gallery in London. The exhibition features his photographs which have been reworked by several artists in many different ways. The artists (Curtis Kulig, James Mylne and Pam Glew to name a few) have reworked the photographs in numerous ways  using all sorts of different media.
The one reworked image that struck me the most was James Dawe interpretation of Brigitte Bardot smoking a cigar. Talking today about the original photograph of Brigitte Bardot, O’Neill said that it was the last frame on the film roll. He had taken a whole roll of film of Bardot when a freak gust of wind blew her hair across her face, and that was the image. All by chance. Dawe has reworked the image and incorporated the hair blowing across her face into different patterns. It was a black & white photograph which Dawe has added a clever controlled burst of colour, which incorporates the feel of the image.
When I saw this image it reminded me of the photomontage that I did of a channel advert. With the advert I cut up parts of the background and presented them in a different way, similar to Dawe’s image. His image has inspired me to look a bit further into reworking images with different media.

Spring has Sprung

The first beautiful day with a bit of warm weather and spring has arrived. The sun is out and the daffodils are poking there heads out. The heavy winter coats come off and the fun floral dresses come on. With it being spring new clothes are needed, and my craving is some high wasted shorts. It’s not quite the right weather yet to wear them, but I just want some!!

What I love most about them is firstly the hight of them, that they reach right up-to you’re belly button. Secondly the old style of them, with the ripped edges and frayed seams, I feel like I should be off working in a field somewhere. I swore I was going to make my own from an old pair of jeans (to save some money) however I saw a pair when I was out shopping the other day with my sister. At first I was just checking to see if my size was there … and they were so I picked them up of the rail. I was just going to hold on to them and put them back before we paid. Well, they were my size and all so I had to try them on to see if they suited me, the next thing I remember is paying for them knowing too well it’s not quite the right weather to wear them yet!

Im still going to make my own as you can never have enough shorts!

The bittersweet between my teeth,
Trying to find the in-between,
Fall back in love eventually.
